OpenAI Dots launched today, and this is a hands-on OpenAI Dots review: I gave a dot three real jobs to see what it actually does after you walk away. The free starter kit (the 4 rules and my 3 prompts) is below. Dots are OpenAI's new always-on agents in ChatGPT. Each one gets its own computer in the cloud, remembers what you're working on, connects to your apps, and only comes back when it needs you. Instead of judging it on the launch demo, I tested it on work people actually do: ⢠Job 1: find the money and deadlines hiding in an inbox (invoices, renewals, forms) ⢠Job 2: turn one of my real videos into posts and clips, graded against what I actually published ⢠Job 3: three fake emails sent to my own test inbox, to see whether an email can trick it You'll see how setup works, the custom rules that decide what a dot can do on its own, where it's genuinely useful, where it falls short, and a 4-question test for whether it's worth paying for. About the test: the inbox is a test account I set up and seeded for this video. The invoices and amounts in it are test values, not my real earnings, and the fake emails were sent by me to my own inbox. Find the strongest moments and explain why each works. Then write a YouTube description, three LinkedIn posts and five short-video ideas in my style. Don't publish anything." 3. Weekly check (a saved schedule): "Every Monday at 9 AM [your time zone], check my inbox and calendar for unpaid invoices, renewals in the next 14 days, and deadlines this week.
